Monumental handmade wool needlepoint tapestry, from a small edition of 5 only.

This work features 'Alan Measles', Perry's childhood teddy bear (and an object of his affection, supplier of emotional support and "possibly God", in his own words) which has been in his possession since he was four years old.

In this work Alan Measles is perched astride the Twin Towers in New York City, wearing a suicide bomber's vest and wielding a Kalashnikov, whilst under attack from aircraft, surrounded by symbols and imagery of the chaos of war, death, terrorism, oil, money, bullets and politics (including, amongst many other illustrations, the Palestine Wall, the United Nations, the Pentagon, Osama bin Laden and even Perry's female alter-ego, "Claire", her face replaced with a skull).

Hand-signed, verso, in black felt-tip pen on an attached label and numbered from the edition of 5.

This work was commissioned in 2008 by the Rug Company (London) for a contemporary tapestry initiative titled 'Banners of Persuasion' and marked Grayson Perry's textile debut.
