Impossibly rare table mirror by Philippe Starck from 1988, in thick (1.8 cm), polished and bevelled glass, with a matt, cast aluminium leg-stand.
Reminiscent of the furniture designs Starck made for the Royalton Hotel in New York for Ian Schrager, with the single rear aluminium leg (the 'Royalton' chair).
Presumably made in very small numbers as seldom seen in the marketplace as it's more commonly available 'sister' table mirror, 'Miss Donna'.
The only known examples of this rare model have corrosion issues related to the original mirroring manufacture. This rare example, the subject of sensitive restoration and re-mirroring (by renowned glass restoration specialists, with Royal warrant), with a few very light short surface scratches (not detracting), the mirror with very slight hazing from repolishing to the rear glass prior to re-mirroring (only visible from certain angles).
Presents beautifully and in almost 'as new', vintage condition and very rare, thus.
Stamp/engraved on the rear leg, 'STARCK 88'.
