Banksy
A very rare unique painting, executed by hand on a 'Rude Copper' silkscreen print on wove paper.
This particular work is highly significant as it was executed by the artist, in situ, directly onto the sheet which was attached to the wall and was exhibited at Banksy's first ever NYC show at the 'Triple Five Soul' retail store on Lafayette (May, 2003) - a little known exhibition (as indeed Banksy was in 2003) and just before Banksy became the household name he is today.
The artist has added black spraypaint to the subject, as evidenced by the drips to the lower portion, and orange spray paint to the background to spell the word 'FILTH' (a derogatory English term used to refer to the police, mostly usued by criminal, counterculture groups, or those with a strong anti-authoritarian stance).
Banksy's 'Rude Copper' (2002), is widely recognised as his first commercial print and this very special work presents a unique opportunity to acquire a unique exhibited painting and can be considered completely apart from any other of the highly coveted subset of hand-finished variants.
The work has been framed in a hand-gilded frame, to the highest archival grade, with museum low-reflective glazing (by Darbyshire framing in London).
(An in-situ vintage jpeg shot of the work on the wall at Triple Five Soul in NYC accompanies this work).
Authenticated and accompanied by a COA from Pest Control Office (which also states the 'Triple Five Soul' provenance).
