Beginning at 10pm with circus performances, and from midnight acts and artists such as Futura 2000 and the Rock Steady Crew were in attendance.
Keith Haring designed the front of the folded invitation with figures dancing across the Manhattan skyline (the Haring image is 10.4 x 12.7 cm and the folded invite opens up to 20.7 x 12.7 cm, printed both sides.)
Also included is an insert which details the rest of the festival's program (in it's fourth year) which ran from March 17 - March 20, 1983.
There is a tiny printed Keith Haring signature within the main image.
The event's invitation exemplifies Keith Haring's ability to bridge the gap between the art world and the street and his work, characterized by bold, outlined figures and playful imagery were put to good use in promoting various social and political themes and issues of the period.Provenance
